I was told that I value “life”

Correct

While I rarely like being told what I do or do not think

the presumption was, in this case, true.

Within the same breath upon which I was told that I value “life”

I was told that I likely can’t explain WHY

You can decide

I LOVE being alive

Perhaps not so strongly in every moment

but certainly in many MOMENTS

I love feeling tired

in the way that I know I’ve done something hard

I love listening while others talk

Hearing new stories and pretending that I haven’t heard old stories before

and the lingering smell of a scented candle burned the night before

and the taste of cinnamon gum

The feeling of sun and wind on my skin grounds me

Even the stones are changed by them

Every so often I remember that I’m breathing

What a miracle that is!

I don’t presume to have the authority to speak to the beliefs of others

But every breathing entity must have MOMENTS, right?

Don’t you?

The last belief that I was told I contain

Human and non-human are NOT separate

What MOMENTS does a bird have?

or tree

or fish

or flower

or bumblebee

I cannot presume to know

but I presume they exist

Without being told, this I believe
